Project Description
The “Baseline Study on the Situation of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Horizon Polli in Tangail” was conducted under the Improving Livelihood and Environmental Health for Excluded Population (ILEHEP) Project for Population Services and Training Center (PSTC), Bangladesh. The assignment was implemented in Tangail Pourashava (Ward No. 03, 11 & 14) from November 2011 to March 2012. The primary objective of the study was to assess the existing condition of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services within the Horizon Polli community through detailed household surveys and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The project evaluated access to safe water, sanitation facilities, hygiene practices, and the responsiveness of service providers and duty bearers toward community needs and rights. The study also assessed the knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) of the target population regarding WASH issues. Comprehensive household datasheet surveys and physical feature surveys were conducted to collect socio-economic, infrastructural, and geographical information. In addition, GIS-based mapping of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Community Development Committees (CDCs), and household locations was carried out to support spatial analysis and planning. The collected data were systematically analyzed, and detailed maps and databases were prepared to ensure accurate representation and long-term usability of project information. Finally, a comprehensive report containing findings, analysis, and recommendations was prepared and presented to relevant stakeholders to support evidence-based advocacy, planning, and improvement of WASH services for excluded communities.
