Building Capacity for IMIS Development and Deployment in Bangladesh

Excited to share that we participated in the Technical Training on IMIS Development and Deployment under the Strengthening Public Data Systems for Sanitation in Bangladesh (SPDSSB) initiative. This impactful program is being implemented by DPHE, Government of Bangladesh, and is generously funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

This extensive, hands-on training focused on equipping participants with critical technical skills required for successful IMIS implementation in cities. The program provided a comprehensive understanding of:

• Linux server management with Ubuntu OS
• Git version control
• Docker containerization and Docker-Compose
• Networking and firewall configuration
• Shell scripting
✅ Database Administration & Maintenance:
• PostgreSQL and its PostGIS extension
✅ GeoServer & GIS Data Handling:
• GeoServer configuration
• GIS data management
✅ Application Development & Customization:
• PHP with Laravel framework
• JavaScript, jQuery, and OpenLayers
• RESTful API development
• React Native for mobile applications
The training also emphasized technical documentation, data migration, customization, and maintenance to ensure efficient deployment of the IMIS platform across cities in Bangladesh and Nepal.
By participating in this training, we at Geo-Planning for Advanced Development (GPAD) Ltd have significantly enhanced our technical capacity, enabling us to contribute effectively to improving public data systems for sanitation in the region.
